After several months without much word, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) may finally be releasing their notice of determination on the proposed site for the new Harding High School.
The construction project has been stuck in limbo since April, partially because construction on the Boston Avenue former GE site cannot begin until the DEEP clears it, and partially because the Bridgeport Board of Education has been holding up the process.
While it’s still uncertain exactly when their preliminary findings will officially be released, Chairwoman Sauda Baraka announced at last night’s board meeting that the DEEP will be holding two community meetings in November: An information session on November 12, and a public forum on November 18.
Both the information session and the forum will be held at the current Harding High School. No time has been for either meeting.
In addition to the two public meetings organized by the DEEP, they will be presenting their findings to the board at the next Faculties Committee meeting on November 3.
