It appears Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz has decided she’d rather stay in Bridgeport after all.
On Monday night, shortly after being named as a top contender for the position of state Education Commissioner, the Bridgeport Board of Education voted 7-2 to extend Rabinowitz’s contract until July 2017.
This news comes after the BOE had already extended her contract for an additional year last month.
This latest extension would mean that Rabinowitz, who originally came to Bridgeport on an interim basis to replace Paul Vallas, will in all likelihood continue on as superintendent for at least two more years.
And who knows, with the rate the BOE is extending contracts, it’s entirely possible Rabinowitz will continue on even longer.
